How to Decorate Your Kid’s Bathroom

When you go to decorate your child’s bathroom, it can be easy to get carried away. But you do need to be sure that the room is functional as well as fun. Creating a bathroom that’s a perfect fit for a kid doesn’t necessary need to entail a big remodeling project. Sometimes all you need is a great decorating plan that makes sense. When it’s time to decorate a kid’s bathroom, keep in mind the following tips.

Get Your Kid Involved in the Decorating
When you give a child a say in decorating a room, he or she is much more likely to use that room and keep it clean. Be sure to consider your child’s opinion (if he or she is old enough) when you are choosing colors and a scheme for the bathroom. See if your child would be interested in helping you paint or making art projects to hang on the walls. When your child is involved in any aspect of the décor, they will be happier and more enthusiastic about the outcome.

Always Remember Safety First When Decorating
When designing your child’s bathroom, it’s important to keep issues of safety in mind at all times. It’s so easy to get caught up in planning and implementing the design, and then realize belatedly that you’ve created a safety hazard. This is particularly important for younger kids and toddlers. Remember to add additional safety measures if you do have younger children, such as a non-slip tub mat and a safety latch on the toilet. Add safety locks to the cabinets as well to keep any medications out of the reach of little hands.

Be Sure to Add Plenty of Storage and Organization Space
You need to create a designated place for everything in your child’s bathroom if you want that bathroom to stay clean. Your child will be much more likely to clean up if you provide him or her with plenty of storage and organizational space. You can keep cabinets and drawers organized by providing smaller bins and baskets to keep small items in place. When coming up with storage and organizational spaces, remember that they can be decorative as well.

Add Style or a Theme with Small Touches
Since kids grow up so fast, consider decorating the bathroom neutrally, with plain walls and neutral flooring. You can then add stylish flair to the room with smaller décor items. Then these smaller items, such as wallpaper borders and shower curtains, can easily be changed in the future. Other smaller décor items that will add instant style are towels, baskets, and artwork.

Get Creative with the Decorating
You need to remember that this isn’t your dining room or living room, but your child’s bathroom. Thus, you can get creative and even a little crazy with the décor. When decorating this room, don’t be afraid to move out of your comfort zone a little. Don’t worry about it matching the style of the rest of the home. After all, the only people who are probably going to be in there are you and your children.

Decorating a kid’s bathroom is a great project for both parents and their kids. Remember these tips, as they will put you well on your way to great kid’s bathroom.

How to Choose the Right Ceramic Bathroom Tiles

This article looks at the potential areas of usage for ceramic tiles and trys to explain the difference between porcelain and ceramic tiles.Eradicating bacteria and dampness are just a couple of practical issues discussed in the article.  This will help enormously when decorating bathroom areas.

Ceramic tiles are a very popular choice for bathroom tiles, because they are extremely versatile. When we talk about ceramic tiles in the UK, it is worth noting, that we are probably referring to procelain tiles.Porcelain tiles, despite being associated to being fragile are more durable and generally stronger than ceramic. The name ‘ceramic’ has simply evolved due to it’s production within the ceramic industry!

A bathroom needs tiles that can withstand wet, hot and very humid conditions. That is why ceramic tiles are suggested as they have a variety of applications.Floor tiling is exceptionally popular in a bathroom these days too.

Tiling in a wet room simply finishes off the look of a contemporary and modern room, whereas if vinyl flooring is installed it can look fairly basic and as if corners have been cut to save money.A tiled floor should be considered, as anything else may look dated and be less durable.

Tiles come in different sizes, with different shapes and varying from the very large to tiny mosaic tiles.  They can often be single coloured or patterned and many now have Spanish or Moroccan influences, although some traditional floral tiles do still exist.A tiny bathroom would not suit some of the very strong colours, but a larger than average room would look stunning.

Opting for cheaper, standard tiles in a bathroom is simply not an option, since they will not last, will peel off the walls and whilst you may think that this could look somewhat ‘shabby chic’ the reality is that bacteria and damp can linger behind loose tiles. This is not a good idea honestly.  The bathroom is the wettest area of the house so it is one room where you have to eradicate dampness in order to stop it getting hold.  So forget shabby chic and instead plump for timeless elegance!

The sheer range of ceramic bathroom tiles available now means that any taste and preference can be catered for.Careful consideration should be given when choosing your tiles as you need to ensure that you choose correctly in order to achieve the desired results.

What Every Home Owner Should Know About Decorative Mirrors

If you have been taking note of reviews and articles online then you have probably noticed that I have written a lot of posts about decorative mirrors. I have, in many occasions shared about how to place them correctly in the house, where to buy the best and why they are so important to our everyday lives. Having said that let me continue sharing more of some of my tips and tricks.

This is just a simple yet effective review that should get you well on your way to changing the look of your house.

Let me start with the obvious, you can use a mirror to verify your looks before going out to face the world i.e. the way you are dressed, made up or anything in between.

More and more people have gone past that functionality and are now using them to create an illusion of space in their homes. In addition to that, they are also used to add more light into a “not so well lit” room.

There is a large pool from where you can choose your mirrors from. For example, you can go for a oversized, Venetian, handcrafted, wall, metal, antique, wrought and 3-way full length mirror to list just a few.

So if you have a small room and you can afford to buy some mirrors use them to cover the walls. Let me just mention that while this has all the advantages it does, however, come with some draw backs. For example, you ca have kids and visitors rubbing their heads against the mirrors and causing them to become cloudy and “uncleanable”. So to deal with this problem I suggest you get yourself a mirrored tile which comes with a design overlay that is etched on it.

Another option is to have decorating bathroom mirrors on a mantle or just add a mirror tile highlights along some parts of the wall.

There really is no one best way to us your mirrors to decorate around your house. Just follow your heart and the rest will follow you. You should probably consider finding more sources to help you get started with your new home improvement project

Is It The Right Time to Spruce Up Your Home

My husband and I have been living in our home for more than a decade now, and it has to be said many of the rooms are looking a bit worse for wear.

Sadly both the bathroom and kitchen seem to have reached the point of no return and it looks like a total revamp is going to be required.

The problem is where is the best place to start? Currently there seems to be a vast choice of bathrooms and kitchens available. Should you be considering a modern theme, maybe traditional, or perhaps just go for the wow factor?

Currently a few of our local DIY shops are offering some great deals on their kitchens and bathrooms, but is buying at the local DIY store the best decision?

Maybe you might be best suited buying from a specialist company. At the moment lots of the larger companies have some brilliant deals on offer. If you like you can choose Interest Free payments over a 24 month period, maybe for the kitchen you could get all of the electrical appliances thrown into the deal. The choice is yours with the current economic market, and if you shop around you will be able to play the companies against each other, thereby ensuring you get the very best deals on offer.

Please bear in mind that even though you may seem to be getting an absolute bargain, these companies are still making a profit out of you. Why not have a go at pushing them to drop their prices a little further, after all you have nothing to loose by trying.

When decorating your room, an important factor is choosing the right accessories.  Accessories for the kitchen can make or break a room. You have to make sure they blend in well with the style of the kitchen. The bathroom is a bit of a simpler room to decorate.  Ethical bathroom accessories can be easily mixed and matched, and changed from month to month.

The problem we will have is by decorating both the kitchen and bathroom our lounge is going to look a bit old and tired. Perhaps it could be a good idea to buy some ethical homeware.  These could certainly brighten up the room and do not have to break the bank.  With all this work going on, it looks like it is going to be a busy couple of months ahead.

A Child Friendly Bathroom – Safe and Fun

When it comes to decorating a bathroom that is for kids, safety is the foremost priority. Everything that you have found out about child safety should be kept in mind when you are redecorating your bathroom. Make certain that you have customized childproof locks on any of the cupboards and drawers that may possibly contain hazardous materials.

Those no slip surfaces will do well if you will put it under the tub and make sure that you secure adhered mats on the floors that may be slippery. Aside from that, going light with the accessories will be good since it can cause harm as well.

You do not need all of those pricey bathroom remodels, even if they are very cute, and somehow functional, but they are not that practical at all, simply because soon as you purchase those pricey and cute remodels, your little tykes will soon outgrow them. Be practical, stick for the traditional models that your kids will quickly grow into.

Typically, bathrooms are smaller in space, so it can be very easy for most things to swiftly be overwhelming and much too busy. Keep in mind that not all of the accessories imaginable are patterns; colors or even characters are really needed. How about giving complementary colors that are in bold shade a try, so that it will draw more attention to the few themed items?

As an alternative, why not go wild and be trendy. Picture that your child’s bathroom is a momentary decorating project, since it is a small area; it will be very easy to decorate and spruce up, so have fun with it. If your child is old enough, have them participate and give them the chance of picking out their choice theme and colors. And if you can persuade them to have fun with the choosing of their choice theme and colors, why not let them help you with the decorating as well.

Do not ever forget that when you are decorating your kid’s bathroom, it is an utmost importance to keep it as safe as possible and to limit any amount of accessories, so it would not be a very busy place. And it is a good thing that your child will help out with the decorating of their bathroom scheme, for the reason that it will expand their creativity.
