The Best Buy In Bedroom Furniture And Sundries.
When choosing bedroom furniture there are a couple of things you might want to keep in mind. #1 are you going with new or used furniture bedroom furniture because it makes a big difference in your strategy. If your furniture is used and may include any electrical wiring such as in the matching lamps that often are part of a large set then you will want to be sure to have it inspected.
By inspected first we mean the lamps or any piece that includes wiring. Antique table lamps most of the time come with old or even original wiring that may pose a large fire safety hazard. If upon inspection you find there are any even potential problems you will want to have the wiring 100% redone by a certified professional.
Why a Certified professional? Well, firstly so your house doesn’t burn down because you pulled a Rube Goldberg and fouled up the wiring. And second so that if it does become a problem, one you have recourse and 2 your insurance should cover you. Of course you must seek the advice or council of your licensed insurance professional to get that inquiry answered properly and I am in no way shape or form implying any advice.
If you decide to go the used furniture route then the next part of your quest is to decide whether or not you will be going with vintage period antiques or just plain normal used that could be only 1 year old but at a substantial discount over new. If you go with the vintage period antique furniture bedroom then consider this hefty option if you would please.
Look for a complete matching set because if you can find one or happen to stumble upon one that’s where the money is if you ever decide to resale the pieces. If you have ever seen anyone who has a huge matching set of silver service or seen any of the folks who collect matching service sets you likely know the value of a complete set. The same thing can be said and remain true for bedroom furniture. If you have a complete set with absolutely no missing pieces of period bedroom furniture you have something that will truly hold its resale value and command top dollar when you get ready to sell it later on if you decide that’s what you would like to do.
One handy little tip when buying vintage bedroom furniture is to look underneath the bed and underneath the dressers to see if the cross rails are warped. The cross rails are the sometimes single or sometimes done in an X pattern wooden support members that are there for support. If you find that they are badly warped it is often true that your piece will be susceptible to major warping or even cracking and splitting. Because as go the supports in furniture so goes the furniture itself.
